We invite children and their families to our makerspace in the library. There it is possible to try out the computer Raspberry Pi, the simple programming tool Scratch and Makey Makey which can turn different things into controllers for games. You can use bananas, playdough or what ever comes to mind to operate the games you make in Scratch.
Instructors from the organisation Koder will assist guests. Note that the curriculum and the instructions are in Icelandic. The instructors can offer assistance in English.
This is around about 2 hour long course and it is good to be there on time. If there are many participants we might have to ask guests to share a computer. Those interested can bring a USB memory stick to save their projects on, that is not a necessity.
The course is aimed at kids from 6-12 years old. However we welcome both younger and older participants.
Information about other events can be found on the libraries website: http://borgarbokasafn.is/
